Clans: creating, inviting, roles and look

Build your permanent team: name and tag, a level from the members' XP, leader and officer, motto, color and banner.

A clan is your permanent team: a name, a tag next to its members' names, a level built from your own XP and a public page for everyone to see. This guide covers everything from creating a clan to its look and roles.

How does a clan level up?

A clan's level comes from the total XP of all its members and goes from 1 to 20. It's the same XP as the players' own rank XP: it can't be bought and only goes up by playing. The more the members play, the higher the clan climbs. In the clan list you can see the nationwide ranking.

Creating a clan

  1. Sign in with your site account and go to Clans. If you're not in a clan yet, you'll see the "Create a clan" box.
  2. Write the clan name (3 to 24 characters).
  3. Write the tag: 2 to 5 letters or digits, shown next to the members' names.
  4. If you like, add a short description (up to 200 characters). It's optional.
  5. Press "Create clan". You become the leader.
The name and tag can't be changed after creation, so check them once more before you press the button. Names and tags that look like staff or an official status (such as admin, support, VIP and premium) are refused. Each clan has one leader and each person can be in only one clan.

Inviting members

On your clan's page there is an "Invite a player" box. Write a name or SteamID and send an invitation. Leaders and officers can invite. The invited player sees the invitation on the clans page and in the notifications of the site and the launcher, and joins by pressing "Accept". A clan holds up to 30 members (open invitations count against this) and you can have at most 20 open invitations.

If you've been invited, accepting makes you a member and the clan tag appears next to your name. You can press "Decline" too.

Roles

  • Leader: all the powers. Sets the clan's look, changes roles, can remove any member or officer and can hand the leadership to someone else.
  • Officer: can invite players and remove ordinary members (not officers).
  • Member: an ordinary member of the clan.

From the member list the leader promotes a member to officer or takes it back. If the leader hands over the leadership, they become an officer.

The clan's look

From the clan page the leader sets its look:

  • Motto, up to 60 characters.
  • Color, one of 8 (gold, blue, green, red, purple, teal, orange, pink).
  • Banner, one of 6 patterns (plain, stripes, grid, waves, embers, dunes).

The banner and color can only be picked from this list; no picture is uploaded, so everything stays clean and consistent.

Leaving a clan

Any member can leave with the "Leave clan" button on the clan page. The leader can't leave while there are other members in the clan; they first have to hand the leadership to someone. If the leader is the last member and leaves, the clan is closed.

What isn't here yet

For now the clan tag shows next to members' names on the site, not in the game chat. Clan ranking by matches and seasons comes after matchmaking.
